The first pilot calls for 2025 include two different types of calls - IDEA and CONCEPT - both aimed at projects in the early stage. In total, DKK 6 million are waiting to make a difference in the medtech field already in 2025, with the expectation of more funding in the coming years. Also, for more mature projects.
- The new funding opportunities can be applied for by employees at SDU and the Region of Southern Denmark – most likely in collaboration with others so that ideas can germinate across disciplines, institutions and key players, explains Head of MedTech Odense, Søren E. Frandsen.
A steppingstone towards more
The funding from MedTech Odense should be seen as a steppingstone or seed money to mature and develop concrete ideas, solutions and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Funding that can move the project a step further along its path from idea to clinic to market.
- With this funding we can strengthen our collaboration around solutions that create value for both patients and society, thereby strengthening the healthcare system of the future, says Deputy Manager of MedTech Odense, Thomas Kristensen.
The funding can be applied for by employees at SDU and the Region of Southern Denmark via their local intranet.
A boost to the area
MedTech Odense has earmarked DKK 20 million in 2025 to promote research and innovation projects with the potential to create future health technologies that make a difference to patient treatment across the healthcare system. Earlier this year, the first funds were distributed for a groundbreaking pioneering project in the field of cardiology.
MedTech Odense is a powerhouse that unites research and technology with clinical needs and companies. It is based on a strategic and binding partnership between the University of Southern Denmark, the Region of Southern Denmark, Odense University Hospital and the region's other hospitals, and Odense Municipality.
