MedTech Odense invests in the healthcare technologies of the future

At MedTech Odense, we aim to accelerate research and innovation projects with the potential to create the healthcare technologies of the future that make a difference to patient care across the healthcare system.

The ownership group consisting of the Region of Southern Denmark and SDU is strengthening the medtech field with up to DKK 20 million in 2025 and again in 2026, with expectations of additional funding in the coming years. The funds from MedTech Odense are intended to serve as stepping stones or seed funding to mature and develop concrete ideas, solutions, and collaborations that can move projects one step further along the path from idea to clinic to market.

Funding can be applied for by employees at the University of Southern Denmark and within the Region of Southern Denmark - preferably in collaboration with others - so that ideas can grow across disciplines, institutions, and key stakeholders.

All academic disciplines and technologies are welcome, provided they have a clear focus on solutions that are feasible and, over time, commercially scalable within a healthcare context. This means that the solution must have commercial potential.

The ownership group, the Region of Southern Denmark and SDU, has allocated a total of up to DKK 19 million for the two calls in 2026, expected to be distributed as DKK 5–6 million for Need & Idea and DKK 13–14 million for Proof & Validation.
